The Mahaney Dome: Dedication and Game 6 May 2006
In 2000 Larry made an offer to his alma mater: to finance a multi-purpose dome on campus to give Maine teams much needed space to practice throughout the long Maine winters. The $1
million practice facility was completed this Fall and was due
to be dedicated in May 2006. Larry had been looking forward

The air-supported dome is a tremendous campus resource. The
200 foot x 200 foot structure stands 55 feet high at the center,
and is usable year-round in all weather conditions. It gives
Black Bear student-athletes who play football, soccer, baseball,
softball, field hockey, lacrosse, or rugby an indoor practice
facility complete with a state-of-the-art artificial surface.
It benefits the community as well as Maine teams and will help
ensure the future success of Black Bear athletics, as Larry
intended.
